La De La Studio had the pleasure of collaborating with Brad stank, this time on his latest album ‘In The Midst Of You’, the first on his new label Sunday Best.

Our goal was to create a visual narrative that seamlessly tied together the album’s cover artwork, promotional posters, music videos, and merchandise, ensuring every element contributed to a singular, compelling story.

The visual themes drew inspiration from American jazz bars, Jack Kerouac, and the intimate ambiance of candlelit rooms. We also incorporated unique symbolism, notably candles, stars and the donkey, known for its strength and perseverance, aligning with the album's deeper themes. This rich tapestry of influences allowed us to create a distinctive and atmospheric visual identity that resonated deeply with Brad’s music.




To push the boundaries of traditional album design, the LP cover was rotated 45 degrees, inspired by the orientation of graphics on 1950s American bar napkins, a key source of visual inspiration in our initial research. We meticulously created a typeset, colour palette and icons that echoed the album's themes, ensuring every piece of visual content, from posters to merchandise, felt part of the same story. The candle icon used across the campaign, for example, is formed from the ‘B’ in the custom type used in the Brad stank wordmark.

These themes were carried across both music videos, where we looked to further build upon the visual world and add more layers to ‘In The Midst Of You’. The candles, donkeys, dimly lit rooms, all brought to life in two warm and inviting videos.
